  • VIVALDI REVIEW - NEENU FOOD KISSED

Vivaldi has an airy ambience, with lavish natural light during day time. We were there for dinner, the lights were dimly lit, and the 180-degree view of the Dubai creek was fabulous. The staff appeared to be materializing the moment you needed something, giving service a bold tick on my checklist. They were also well aware of the menu, its ingredients and methods.

Masala Library at JW Marriott Marquis, is dubbed as the “magnum-opus” of Jiggs Kalra, lovingly known as the “Czar of Indian cuisine”. The restaurant promises the grandeur of traditional cooking with modern techniques, served in a futuristic presentation designed to stun and sensationalize.

This week’s biggest development in the FoodKissed household goes thus: Little Samar learnt to point at his head & nose correctly, joins his palms together when asked to say please, and shakes his head vigorously to denote a “no” when asked if he is being naughty.

  • CASA MIA REVIEW - NEENU FOOD KISSED

Casa Mia has a simple, yet pretty entrance. There is a walkway, covered on top with pergola work, and greens all around. A rustic charm prevails with wooden barrels and stone-work fountains leading to a small wooden door. Inside, you have a pleasantly set up dining room with wooden floor panels, white table cloths and a hearty Italian welcome from the staff.

If I had any sense in me, I would not be bundling the kids with me to restaurants. I would be quitting all vain attempts to make scary faces at them as they thump on the table and scatter the cutlery.

“Here’s my advice: Have a little faith, and if that doesn’t work, have a lot of Mimosas.”, said the Chival menu on their website. There was a promise of a global social ambience somewhere, but thanks to the quote, I had already received all the pep I needed to get out of my PJs.

Did you think Dubai maxed out on ideas to pamper its brunchers? Say hello to set-menu brunches – something to make the already extravagant affair of “brunching”, a little bit more luxurious. Personally, I prefer the set-menu concept for couple of other reasons.

I come from a land where “Hot Pot” is a concept unheard of. It was an adventure Mr. FoodKissed and myself embarked on in Singapore for the first time. Hai Di Lao showed us how the game was played. Once back in Dubai, we explored our options and thankfully, the game only continued to get exhilarating. Our visit to Hikina, at Lapita Hotel Dubai, was one such exploration that proved the addictive nature of the Hot Pot concept, in the company of some very authentic Pan-Asian dishes.

My first encounter with Turkish cuisine was right in the streets of Istanbul, after we landed for vacation. Iskender kebab was a revelation, Testi kebab was a discovery and Kunafe was an addiction waiting to happen. I came back from that trip with Turkish spices in my bag, culinary experiences in my heart and 3 additional kilos in my belly and thighs. The perfect kind of vacation.
